Drug Class and Uses: Risperidone is in a class of medications called antipsychotics. It is used in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. Teva Pharmaceuticals, the generic manufacturer has been granted 6-months market exclusivity which began June 30, 2008. In addition, the brand-name manufacturer Jannsen Pharmaceuticals has also introduced its own generic version to compete with Teva’s version. Thus, multiple generic versions are available in 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 2mg, 3mg and 4mg strengths. Read more…
